Pep Boys
Refused old part and wanted to charge me to get it

I believe that Pep Boys Auto is scum. All they are interested in is money.

I went into Pep Boys with a 2000 Honda Civic for 4 new tires and an alignment. At that time they were having a sale on tires, buy 3 and get the 4th free. I told them that I was going to pick the car up around 6pm (it was a sunday).

When I showed up to get my car, they said that there was a problem. I had asked them why they didn't call and they said that they did 3 times. I then asked what number and when they verified it, it was the wrong number (I had verified it with them before I had left when I dropped the car off). They had told me that the started had went and that they couldn't repair it until the next day. Not a problem.

When I went to pick up the car the next morning, it wasn't ready, the part hadn't showed up. They said that it would be one hour. Ok. The car was ready one hour later and I had paid for my sevices. I then asked the Service Manager for the orignal starter. He (didn't get the name) said theat he didn't have it. He had sent it back to the parts warehouse. I had asked if the could get it. He said it would be $100 for it. I had refused to pay stating that by law I had the right to it and on their "rules and regulations" poster, it also stated that the customer had right to ask for returned parts. He still wanted to charge us $100 saying that is what the poster means.

Needless to say I was pissed.By law, I had a right to that part and shouldn't have to pay for it. I yelled at the manager and he threated to call the cops (I never threatened). As I am walking out of the door he said that the cops would have the cops waiting for me at my house. (They never showed up).

I found their customer service terrible and found them immature. Why would you threaten to call the cops on a disgruntled customer that was just yelling and stating the law. I did not threaten or harm anyone. I will never fo back there and would never reccomend them to any of my friends or anyone else.

Stay away from pepboys. I really think that I was ripped off and lied to. Why not just hand over the old starter unless you didn't want the customer know that it really worked?
