I took my 2005 Frontier to Ferman because it was stalling intermittently.

I requested a written estimate for the repair.

A few hours later I got a call from the tech - Brian B.

He said they thought the truck needed a new MAP sensor, but he didn't know how much it was going to cost - maybe 5 or 6 hundred dollars?

Also, he wanted to sell me the "throttle body" cleaning because there was a lot of carbon build up for 200 dollars.

I smelled a scam, but I needed vehicle fixed. I negotiated the repair down to 400 dollars - it takes 5 minutes to replace the MAP sensor I found out later.

The MAP sensors are 150 bucks at AutoZone.

Well, the problem still wasn't fixed and Ferman said I'd have to pay them another 100 dollar 'Diagnostic Fee' to get them to look at it again.

Kept the old MAP sensor and had another dealership test - there was nothing wrong with the sensor!!!

They just replaced the easiest thing to get to.

What a bunch of crooks!
