Delano Dodge, doesn't care about disabilities

Several months ago my parents brought their minivan to Delano Dodge for an oil change. Without asking them first, Delano Dodge did a free detailing on the car, including cleaning the inside. If they would have asked first my dad would have told them that he has severe allergic reactions to any perfumes or scents.

I'm not talking about an allergy where you break out in hives - when he inhales a scent his blood pressure skyrockets, he hs instant nausea, he gets a migraine headache that lasts for days, and if he is exposed to the scent long enough he literally loses all memory of the event. This is a disability he has dealt with for almost 20 years now.

The detailing involved using something with a strong scent on the interior. He picked up the car from the oil change, started to drove it home, and had to make most of the drive with his head completely out the window because he was 'hit' by the smell.

Initially Delano Dodge tried to help, including giving my father a loaner car while they tried to re-cleaning the interior with plain water. The smell is so deeply embedded in the seats I doubt it will ever come out. Friends of my fathers who have no scent sensitivity have stuck their head in the van and been amazed at the smell.

It was like a surreal Seinfeld episode. Once everyone realized it wouldn't go away, Dad started to ask for other options, including swapping the van for with a minor upgrade (eg one year newer) given the incredible hassle this has turned out to be. He felt he got nothing but the runaround from the management there, he would hear nothing for weeks and when he would call they would say "we're checking the auctions, we're sure it will be soon", and then there would be no follow up.

And the latest offer was that Delano Dodge would sell his van for him... On consignment... For a fee. He will not be taking them up on this offer.

I am amazed at the lack of accountability I'm hearing about the management there. Delano Dodge made my father's vehicle completely undrivable for him because of his disability they do not care about making it right.
