Stealing Property from Vehicles

On the 18th of April I stopped to get my oil changed on the way out of town. I left my debit card in the vehicle— the thought never crossed my mind that leaving personal property in my personal vehicle would be an issue (Especially considering the car never actually left my sight). I realized only too late that not only had the oh-so courteous techs stolen my card but they had drained my bank account in a matter of hours at the 7-11 around the corner from the shop! Of course in committed, dedicated fashion the police tell me that I could have just dropped it outside the shop where a random person happened by and picked it up. Good answer! Some random individual uses my debit card for two days in stores adjacent to the auto shop — right that seems much more likely than some jerk automotive tech stealing my card from my car. This whole situation exemplifies what's wrong with the service industry today. What happened to trust and honesty? Spoken as a young twenty something with nothing to gain but apparently more to lose than her faith in humanity.
