Reposessed my car for being 20 days late on a payment

I bought a used car from petaluma credit cars. Then about a month later i lost my job. So that made my first payment late by like two weeks. When i sent my payment i called the company that was financing me Rudoph inc. And told them about the cituation, with my job, and i started a new job and my next payment might be late. They where fine with that.

The next month (dec.) i informed them that the payment was going to be late. About a week later they sent me a letter saying that if i had not sent my payment by jan. 08-08 they woul repo the car. I recieved this letter on dec. 28. On Jan. 01-08 at 6:45 am i went out to my car and it was gone. I called the police to see if my car was stollen, they informed me that it had been repossesed.

So i waited till 8:00am when rudoph inc. Opened office and i called them. They told me if i had the late payment and the next month payment that i could get my car back. I was completly o.K. With that i had the money to send. So i told them that and i would be in with in the hour to pay them.in about ten minutes they called back and told me they changed their mind on the loan and i would have to come up whith the amount of the loan to get my car back. They said they decided to cancel the loan because they felt i lied about my presnt employer, which i told them before that i had changed jobs and do not work for the same employer. They didn't want to hear it at all.

So my car is now presntly being sold at the same dealership i bought it from. Now was it o. K for them to come and get the car on jan. 01-08, when they sent a letter saying that they where going to take it on jan. 08-08 if they didn't recieve payment? Then is it also o. K for them to decide all the sudden to change their mind in ten minets from you can get your car to no you cant? I don't understand why my car was repoed when my payment was only 17 days late, most peoples cars a repoed after 90 days late.
