Dan Gamel RV - Yuma Office
Rips Off another custome

Cars & Transport

Dan Gamel's sales people were like sharks upon my first encounter. I met Robert Kimons and told him I was looking at a motor home to purchase. One of the first words out of his mouth was "what are you trading in"?

I wanted to find out more on the Monaco "Knight", not a new one but nearly so as it was a with just under 6,000 miles on it.

I was transferred to Salesman Gary when Robert had a dentist appointment. Gary also was interested in what my trade was, even though I stated I might not have a trade.

I found out the Yuma Dealership was open to April 15, so I figured I had lots of time to explore the lot for used coaches. That was Thursday.By Saturday I was sitting with yet another salesman, Jeff Hawks. Gary had a strong feeling that he didn't want to work with me, unless I defined what my trade-in was.

Gary surrendered my hunt to Jeff. Wow, what a passing of the buck, I'd say.
Jeff informed me and my wife that Corporate Gamel had decided to close the Yuma lot early, like the following Wednesday.

Once the info had hit the ears of salesmen and service people, they all were scrambling to pack up their belongings and head to other Gamel lots in California.

In the mean time, my wife and I decided we would purchase the 2006 Monaco Knight. We sat down and came to some agreements on what we wanted to be included in any deal we would make. One was a Satellite dish on the roof. Not the big kind that is automatic, but rather the wind up, manual kind.

So we had a short list of repairs, like a electronic device in the power panel that controlled the battery input to the converter. New house batteries were in order as the '06 batteries went bad due to the electronic device not working. I also noted some small items that included putting in a few screws as the factory had left them out.

Well with Wednesday marked as critical moving day (the lot closed and out bound shipping was started) I tried to get them to complete the "to due" list items, as agreed upon by Dan Gamel staff. None of the items were fixed, the slides would not retract, and the fuel tank was not filled as promised.

My wife and I went thru hell trying to just take our new coach home. I am very upset with the handling of our situation and lack of professionalism on their part. Everyone was more interested in packing up and heading for greener pastures than helping their last customer in Yuma.

I do have one saving grace, Phil the service Tech was an outstanding person. He worked hard to try to get the unit ready for a new home but in the end, he was ordered to pack and head for the hills.

What a way to treat customers, paying the kind of money we did for this used custom motor home.
