Legacy Mazda
False advertising, worst experience purchasing a vehicle

Cars & Transport

On 2/23/08 we negotiated a price on a new vehicle which my daughter wanted to purchase. The price did not include the upgraded wheels that were on the car. We said we would buy the car if they would split the sales tax with us, they agreed. However in the meantime there was a radio station outside advertising that any car purchased today was free of sales tax. We told the sales person of this, which I'm sure he already knew, and he used some big words saying that we would save more money by getting the vehicle for the price we had negotiated. I don't quite understand this.

We spent the entire day dealing on this vehicle. We had a 3 year old with us, and also had a dinner we were to attend at 6:00 in Price. My daughter filled out the application using her husbands information. She wanted both names on the title so she could establish credit for her husband, who has been in the Marine's for the past 4 years and served 2 tours in Iraq. My daughter has excellent credit, however she is not employed, her husband is. So they required a co signer, which we did.

After the papers were signed some person went over some additional paper work with us. The mileage on this new vehicle was 3647 and when we inspected the vehicle after it had been washed we noticed scratches and a small dent in the door. We asked at that time if the vehicle was used. They said it wasn't, however that is a lot of mileage for a new 2008.

After returning home we checked the sales tax on the contract and realized that they did not honor their deal to pay half. They contacted us the next day and wanted us to return the wheels. We then told them about the sales tax and they were rude and said we were liars on the application. We will return the wheels if they refund the sales tax, after all that was what they were advertising the day of the purchase.
