First of all, much like some of the reports I have read here; the salesmen must have seen me coming! I had seen the car (2001 Gold Suzuki XL7) on the website, great pictures, great discription, large list of features, etc.

I called from work, then went down to the dealership. After test driving the car I decided that I liked it, and it had a warranty sticker on the window. The list price was $9792.94, they gave me $500.00 for my trade in (a 1991 Chevy S10 Blazer, which I later found out they sold for over $1500.00) I put another $2000.00 down, for a total of $2500.00 down. A mystery charge of $600.00 appeared on the contract (later written in by hand as gap insurance) $571.00 tax, $286.00 documentary fee, $131.50 "paid to public officials" for a grand total of $14,937.80 including estimated finance charges of 4,127.36. So, the first problem is that I got a car that blue books for under $7,000.00 for 14,937.80 WHAT A GREAT DEAL HUH?!

There's more... While typing out the contract the salesman says to me "o.K. And that's no warranty..." I said "wait a minute, the sticker says (I think it was 30 days or so 3,000 miles)" Hmmm, after a bit of a fuss, he changes the contract.

This was on June 1st. Somewhere around June 25th I take the car back to "Quality" with complaints about the clutch... Grinding when trying to put in reverse, hard to put in gear, etc. The mechanic (let's call him Mr. T) has my car half of the day, calls me to pick it up... When I get there he tells me that there is nothing wrong with the clutch and that truck clutches do that.

Somewhere around August I call Quality again because now I can't put it in reverse at all, and it's becoming impossible to put it in any gear without jamming it. I am then told that I need a new clutch that will cost ME over $750.00 After explaining that I had brought the car in under warranty with this problem and making several calls to a person much higher up in the company, it was arranged for my clutch to be replaced for a charge of $350.00. They had my car for four days (no rental).

When I picked up my car the mechanic tells me that it still grinds a little, but then truck clutches do that... Here we go again...

To make the story short the clutch worked fine until about a week ago today Feb 21st it's doing the exact same thing. I took the car to my mechanic and he tells me that he has doubts that the whole clutch was replaced, of course it will take hours of labor to confirm.

I call Quality, go through the same channels as I did before and am told that they can do nothing for me, clutches burn out, and that they had already done a "courtesy replacement in good faith" however, they said that they would be more than happy to take the car as trade for what they determine it's worth, just sell it with a bad clutch, and "make you a great deal on another car" I took that as "get bent!"

Thank the lord that I refinanced the car through my credit union and they are working with me to get a loan for a different car, but the problem still exsists that I still owe $8,000 and will probably be given half of that for trade in and have to carry the balance over to my new car loan.

May I say that the least Quality could have done before sQurewing me was buy me dinner and a movie. What a cheap date!
