Swift Transportation
Don't work for these crooks

Slave labor is alive and well at Swift Transportation. I want to do all I can to discourage anybody from going to work for this company. I wish someone had warned me before I gave these people the time of day. I have learned the hard way and moved on to greener pastures.
For starters, a new guy/gal gets $. 25 per mile and can, sometimes, drive over 600 unpaid miles per week. There is no holiday pay, no sick pay, and peanuts for vacation pay. They send you 100 miles off the beaten path for gas, but those 100 miles are NOT included in your paid miles (I have proof!). I have even caught them routing me the long way and paying me for the short way.
You are forced to spend your OWN very hard earned cash (for the good of their company), and they don't want to pay you back. DO NOT throw $. 50 in a toll booth because you don't get a receipt and you won't be reimbursed. They expect you (out on the road and at your expense) to make copies of everything you turn in, so when they lose your receipt you can produce a copy. You have to monitor your paycheck VERY CLOSELY because THEY make mistakes that you have to fix. The payroll department is generally ignorant, unpleasant and uncooperative.
Then there are the issues of the DOT. Swift wants YOU to strictly adhear to all DOT regulations. Yet, they assign you loads that THEY know are impossible within the DOT regulations. If you get in trouble, it's all on you because Swift will claim you could have refused the load—but, they are a forced carrier.
Take your showers at the terminals but bring Lysol and your shower shoes. The showers are falling down and unclean at most of the terminals (if they are even working!). Forget using the microwave because nobody ever cleans it. Relax in the lounge—what a joke!
Swift's Policy and Procedues Manual speaks endlessly about teamwork and communication. Swift has neither. I'm sick that such a fine companies as Wal-Mart, Costco, and Target are in bed with these people. I regret that I ever was and I'm so glad this is behind me. I wish Swift drivers would band together and quit letting this company get away with treating them so badly. I hate to see this kind of abuse of hard working Americans.
