Cars & Transport

This is for anyone who has purchased a 2002 pontiac sunfire se.

Halfway through the model year, Pontiac changed the Sunfires engine from the 2.2 115 hp, to the new 140 hp high performance Ecotec.

Well, I bought my car in april of this year, one week after my sister bought hers. We both paid the same amount for our cars - (just about $15,000.)

It wasn't until after I got the car home, and was reading my manuel that I realized I had gotten the very poor performing "old" engine, and my sister had got the new Ecotec.

I'm angry that this wasn't disclosed to me prior to the purchase of my car - and I'm even angrier that I was charged the same amout that my sister was for a car of much lesser value.

I have sent several letters to General motors stating my extreme dissatisfaction - without response. I have filled out the customer "satisfaction" survey's that I recieved after the purchase of my car. But I want to know if anyone else has been burned by this. I don't even attempt to merge with traffic in this car if the air is on - and passing isn't for the little engine in this car. It stutters when first started - no matter what the weather is - and it's even stalled out on me once.

According to the one and only customer service manager who just contaced me this evening, this is a matter for my service department to handle as far as the cars performance is concerned.

But considering that the car only has 1900 miles on it, I would best define the problem as a "birth defect." I'm hoping that if I can find enough dissatisfied customers, the corporation will open their eyes and see you can't sell beer for the price of wine!
