Poor quality workmanship, ripoff got 10km out of their rebuild and it was knocking

Bought a 2.7 litre engine from these guys on Oct 12th for $2650.
Had it installed at a cost of $2250. At a mechanical shop and the engine had a rod knock from the moment it was fired up.
Upon calling the salesman {Rick} back and telling him of my problem he told me that the company had gone broke and that he was now working for a new company and that there was nothing he could do for me.
I live in British Columbia Canada and would really like to know if these guys really did go out of business. If they didn't they should.
This is not done yet and I would like any ideas or help anyone has. I have a $5000. Bone to pick with these guys!
