Arrington's Body Shop
Bad Service, Poor Workmanship, Stated they replaced a part but didn't Ripoff

Cars & Transport

I went on the 28th of Aug 07 to Arrington's Body Shop in Winter Haven to have the pins and bushings replaced on my Chevy S10 pickup truck. At the end of that day, I went to the Body Shop to pick it up. I went in at about 5pm and they stated that they didn't know if the mechanic had finished the job completely because he had to leave for an emergency. I went outside and looked at the truck and upon inspection told them that the lower pin was the same one that I had put in prior. I stated that I would return the following day to have it fixed but I needed to take the truck for work. So I paid them for the service and returned the next day, the 29th. Of Aug 07 in the morning to have them fix it. They called me later that morning and stated that the truck was done. When I went to pick it up I found that there was a lot of 'play' in the door. I stated to them that it should not have that much play in it. They insisted that it was new and that if I wanted to replace it to prove that it was a new bushing that I would have to pay for the labor again, but if it proved that it was the old bushing that they would (eat the cost). I stated again that it should not have that much play in it and there mechanic stated that it was because the hinges were bad. I also stated that there also could have been a defect in the part itself but they shrugged it off like they were not responsible for things like that. I stated to them that I was going to the Chevy Dealership to seek the opinion of the manufacture. So I left there and went to the Chevy dealerships body shop where the shop manager and a mechanic both verified that the lower bushing was bad and there was nothing wrong with the hinges. After going to the Chevy dealership I went back to Arrington's to let them know what the dealership stated. The owner then stated that they would fix it and that it would only be a 10 min job. He told his son to get the parts from the dealership to fix it and I stated that I already had new parts for him in my truck. They then took my truck to fix it and with in 4 minutes they called Mr. Arrington and stated to him that it was going to take 2 hours to fix because they had to take the door back off. Then he stated that I would have to pay for parts again, and if the door just happened to be loose again after the job was done that I would be liable to pay for the labor again. That is when I left the building.
