Volkswagon
Passat Engine Problem screwed others too

Cars & Transport

I along with others I know have had VW Passats late model 98 and early 99 with engine malfunctions. What starts to be an oil light lumination will turn to disaster. VW says it stands behind its product with a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. This obviously does not apply. Facing a 5,000-6,000 dollar engine replacement bill, I cannot accept their answers.

My Passat has 77,000 miles on it with regular oil maintanence every 5,000 miles. My last tune-up was at 65,000 miles. Now the car is on the blink and "no warranty" is being threatened. If you have had a similar situation, please contact me.
