Last June, I purchased an extended warranty from WarrantyUSA for my car. Recently I accidently washed my ID card in the washer machine. When I tried to contact the company for replacement card, (I got the 800 off the big document they sent), I got the operator message of "The number you are dialing is either restricted from your calling area or is no longer in service - 512." I went on the internet hoping that the company just changed their 800 number and forgot to inform me, but instead I got the worst fear of any consumer, I was scammed. I learned the company was in the process of filing for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy during the sale of my extended warranty. What a rip off! Or better terms fraud.
Unfortantly, I paid in full ($1,200) on my credit card. This taught me a lesson the hard way, don't trust anyone. I have file a complaint with my credit, and with FTC, and anyone who could assist in trying to punish this bad company. I proable will be out the 1200, but I would be very happy if justice would be serviced in convicting the parties of fraud.
