My Incompetence Delivers Awful Service. This should be their mission statement.

I went to Midas in Fort Myers because I needed the rear pads replaced on my car. Normally I would do it myself, but I figured that if they could do it for under $100.00 as advertised ($89.00) then it would be worth my time.

After inspecting my car for 15 minutes they came back with a quote of over $1,300.00. I was completely dumbfounded. They began to explain everything that needed to be done including the front brakes. I then explained that I had the front breaks done not too long ago, soooo what are you talking about. The manager then said Well, the front breaks don't need to be done it's just a recommendation.

At this point the only reason I was still there was because the whole conversation was becoming amusing. She continued to tell me that all calipers and rotors needed to be replaced. When I asked why? She continued to say because they don't want to be liable if the breaks fail. So, I guess that the only way they can be sure that their work is guaranteed is to just replace everything rather than only what needs to be done. I asked them to just take the car down off the lift and I would do it myself.

On the way home I stopped at NAPA and purchased pads, break fluid, jack stands, and a c-clamp all for around $50.00. I went home and an hour later I had the work done. The breaks work great! I can't believe that these people (Midas) try to blatantly rip people off. Please do not go to Midas, they are thieves!!! My recommendation is to find a good trustworthy mechanic in your town and have them work on your vehicle (s).
