Tried to charge $869.00 brake job on a 19 month old vehicle when work done by them 8 months ago

Cars & Transport

I took my 2002 Rodeo Sport to Midas 8 months ago (09/06/03) for brake inspection. I was told I needed my rotors and drums turned and new brake pads. I thought that was kind of odd being I only had 12868 miles on it, but I trusted them and had the work done for $387.26.

I took my 2002 Rodeo Sport back to Midas on 05/15/04 for a brake inspection. I did this because if I needed my rotors and drums turned after only 12868 miles and I now have around 22500 miles on it, I would be safe and have another inspection done. The attendant at Midas called me and told me "I have bad news, your rotors and drums need to be replaced and it will cost $869.00". I immediately responded with anger, I was deeply offend by him thinking I was so stupid that I would buy this line. Can you imagine a total cost of over $1200.00 for brakes on a practically new vehicle in less than 9 months?

My vehicle is less than 19 months old and there is no way I could possibly need this kind of work. I took my vehicle home and pulled the wheels to inspect the brakes myself. I determined that my vechicle only required new front brake pads and I still had several months of wear left on the current pads, it appears my rotors and drums have never been turned. I am going to take my vehicle to another Brake Service Center and get a professional inspection to determine if they have been turned before.

If it turns out, my rotors and drums haven't been turned, I will file a law suit.

Midas attempted to steal from me and it's possible they already have, as a consumer this type of practice is unacceptable and action should be take to rectify Midas's business practices.
