Sexual harrassment, ill customer treatment, bad repairs ripoff

Cars & Transport

These guys are pretty bad to their customers, esp if you're a decent-looking female. Both naim and kevin have asked me out on dates when i went to get my car fixed (back in july 19 and before this incident) and i got hell for saying 'no'. Read on. (be warned, there are profanities in this)

On july 19, i brought my car to precision to have my front rotors replaced. I went to pick the car up on july 20 and decided to take it for a test drive around the block to make sure it ran ok. I heard a horrible crunching noise coming from the front driver's side when i would turn the wheel. I drove the car back and told kevin, a mechanic, the problem. I was asked if i could bring the car back tomorrow.

I told him no, i couldn't, i had paid over $900 for repairs and had to be somewhere that night and was planning a road trip in the near future. Naim came and took a look at the car and found that the wheel bearing had been busted when the front rotor on the driver's side was replaced. This is due to repacking the bearings, which is NOT a good idea with honda rotors, due to the fact that the particular rotors are the press-on kind and require a special machine to put them on properly.

I also consulted with my old mechanic in boston on the problem. He believed that the car cannot be driven in this condition and the bearing should not be repacked and in no way should i have to pay for a new one. Naim came out at first and told me i was to pay for a new bearing. I told him i was on the phone with someone who knew about repairs and i shouldnt have to. He finally agreed and replaced the bearing free of charge.

I left precision tune disatisfied and began going to another repair shop. We will refer to this shop as 'shop a'.

On january 5 i brought my car in to 'shop a' to have the master cylinder looked at. I was told by 'shop a' months earlier it was leaking brake fluid. I authorized a 40 point check on my car. The mechanic found that my front rotors, replaced by precision tune, were the wrong size. They were too small. It caused abnormal wear to the brake pads as well. The mechanic at 'shop a' determined the car unsafe for driving. I had driven about 5000 miles in an unsafe car! I got the information documented by 'shop a'. Ill-fitting rotors destroy the brake pads and can cause failures in stopping.

I called precision on january 6 and told them the problem. I brought my car over as well as receipts from my repair done by precision and my statement from 'shop a'. Naim examined the documentation from 'shop a'. He asked rudely why i had originally gone to them in the first place. I told naim that they found my master cylinder to be leaking brake fluid, and i wanted to repair it. He was rude and insistent, saying things such as, ' master cylinder leaking brake fluid? What are you talking about?! There's nothing wrong with the car!' hmm... It's not safe to drive. Once naim examined my car, he did agree that the front rotors were too small and would need to be replaced, as well as the brake pads. Naim also deemed the car unsafe to drive. Under warranty, they are required to fix my car free of charge. This was done, but it took 3 weeks! Naim told me the supplier for the rotors had sent the wrong size to them. I believe a good mechanic would know they were the wrong size and would have not put them on my car. Causing not only damage to my car, but risking my safety as well.

It took until january 17 before my car went in the shop. I was told by naim that the parts would take one week to arrive. So there my car sat, undriveable for over one week. A little over a week and i had still heard no word from precision of my parts arriving so i called the shop. Naim told me they couldn't get in touch with the supplier and to call back. The parts did not arrive until january 16 and the car was brought in on the 17th. I went to pick the car up the next day, january 18.

When i went in on the 17th to drop off my car, naim was on the phone. I didn't have time to stay and wait for naim patel to get off the phone. I had a long shift to work that night, and my cab had pulled up. I couldn't afford to pay the driver to run the meter. I told sheri to have naim call me.in the cab, i was told by the driver that when he pulled up earlier, the cab driver had politely asked naim if someone had called a cab. Naim replied rudely, 'we didn't call a f*in cab'.in the cab, naim called me and insisted i come and pick up my car later that night. I told him i wouldn't be able to as i had to work a long shift. He shouted, 'why didn't you wait for me to get off the phone?! You don't give a f* about your car, do you?' i was horrified! I don't believe i should be spoken to in that manner - ever! I simply said, i was sorry, but there was just no way. I couldn't afford to lose my job.

The next day, wednesday, january 18. I had my friend rob drive me to precision to pick my car up. Rob's car has a donut on it, so driving was limited. I picked the car up, got a receipt and drove it around the block to make sure it ran ok. It was a bit slow stopping. Having little trust in precision's work, i drove my car to 'shop a' to have the work checked. Once i had dropped it off at 'shop a', i got a called from naim stating that kevin had put the old brake pads put back on instead of the new ones. I was asked if a could bring the car back. I was in rob's car. We were almost at my house. It was 5pm rush hour traffic. There was no way we could drive back to 'shop a' and bring my car to precision on time. I was asked to bring the car in the next day, thursday, january 19. I agreed.

On thursday, january 19th after rob got out of work that afternoon, he came over and we went to 'shop a'. My car had not been checked out or fixed in any way - it only stayed there overnight. I picked up my car and started driving it to precision. On the way, i called precision to tell them i was bringing my car over. Naim told me he didn't have room in the shop for it and to bring it the next day. I have to work the next day! Rob gets off from work too late for me to possibly make it over there and to work without being late and losing my job.

Finally, i managed to talk naim into letting me drop the car off and pick it up the next day, the 20th. It was a fiasco to get over there and try and make it to work, plus it cost me another cab fare i really couldn't afford. Finally, after all this hell, i had received my car with the repairs it should have gotten back in july in a far more timely fashion. And yes, i brought it to 'shop a' to have the work checked.

Naim's treatment of customers is quite ill. One minute he will be a total sycophant, saying things like 'ok sweetie' or 'honey' or 'baby (i have witnesses). However, when he is caught doing wrong, he can turn vile. Kevin often remained polite and helpful in the beginning, but once he broke the bearing of my car, he was constantly rude to me and very grouchy. The one person i have no problem with is sherri, the lady working at the desk. Quiet, but she gets the job done and has never been ill to me.

Now, i understand that your shops are franchised but, as a corporation, is this kind of behavior what you want to stand for? I believe this is the worst treatment i have ever received from any type of service industry - ever! I am throughly disgusted! My friends who have also witnessed this treatment are, too. It is a shame that a poor girl, who struggles to get by, must put up with such treatment to take care of something she has worked very hard for. Now, i am considering enrolling in auto mechanics classes so i will no longer have to deal with situations like these. What a shame...

I wrote a similar copy of this to their corporate headquarters to which i received no reply.
