Does bad business - ll around improfessional ripoff

Cars & Transport

Well, last January I bought new tires for my car. I'm not very brand specific, but when I called I specifically ordered Kelly Superchargers, because they were a good brand I had used in the past and I trust them. They were also on special at the time of my purchase.

I went in to have them installed and when I got home from the tire store I found out that they had ripped me off. I paid for Kelly Superchargers and ended up getting Road Huggers. Road Huggers are supposedly made by Kelly, but are exceptionally HORRIBLE tires. They seem to have good tread life, but they are obnoxiously loud.

I live about an hour away from that tire store, but am out in the area once in a while. So every time I'm in the area (once every couple months or so) I have them checked for leaks and such. Basically they just check the air pressure to make sure the tires aren't losing any air.

I can't even begin to state how many problems I've had with Discount Tire Company. I had put aftermarket valve stem caps on my car, and had a leak and had them air up my tires. After they finished I very specifically asked them to get my valve stem caps back (a $10 set). They did not return them to me. They told me they had been thrown away for liability reasons. The next time I went back they were on one of the kid's cars that worked there. (I know they were mine because they had been custom painted for my car.)

I did tell the manager, however, and he did nothing. I decided it was best to just let it go since I had had no way of proving they kid stole them.

Well, I had a second set of valve stem caps that were aluminum and over the winter they had corroded to the threading on my valve stems. I went in to have them replace them all (it's in the warranty that it's covered). Not only did they not replace them all, but they only replaced 2, without even checking to see if my other tires were aired up. That was the reason I was there in the first place.

I went back later that week and asked them if they could go ahead and change both of the other valve stems and just make sure all of them have the black plastic caps (this set of valve stem caps was much cheaper). This time they only replace ONE stem.

I had to go in AGAIN the next week to have the other one changed. I asked them if they could go ahead and check my tires because they had all been getting lower despite the weather getting warmer not colder. This time they finally changed the last one. They didn't even bother airing up the other tires. They aired up the one that the valve stem was changed on to 30psi. It was supposed to be aired up to 40psi. It says it right on the sidewall of the tire. Not only did they not air it up all the way, but they let me leave their store with a tire at 15psi. After I asked them if they could air them all up or at least check them. 15psi is more that sufficient to cause a blow out should I have hit a pothole or something.

Not only that, but the kid that was working on my car decided he didn't even bother having to line the center cap up to put it on. He just tried to hammer it back on with a rubber mallot. Surely enough he broke a $50 center cap. And then, the store agreed to pay for the center cap, but ONLY IF I found and paid for it and brought in a receipt even after the initial agreement they agreed to track one down and buy it for me.

Now I have to make yet another trip in there because 3 of my 4 valve stems are leaking at the base.

I have been extremely polite up until this point, but the last time I was in there the manager was very crappy with me, and proceeded to tell me that I need to be more responsible with my tires. He even called me stupid. Not, silly or dumb. STUPID.

Brief summary, I've made a total of 7 stops in to Discount Tire Co, and in those visits I have been lied to (about tire brand), called names, treated like an idiot, had items broken, was almost killed upon leaving, and have had something screwed up EVERY single time.

BEWARE HOOSIERS! Don't go to Discount Tire Co.in Noblesville, IN. You may have a pleasant experience with them (many people I know have) but you COULD end up in a situation like mine. Is it really worth it?
