My last payment was to be made 4/30/07. I was informed that I had a 3,000 balance. It was my impression that I was buying the car. Where has all the interest come from?

With only 3 payments to go I've been told I'll still owe 3,000 in interest payments? How can it be that much I was under the impression I was buying not leasing. What can be done to stop these people?
