Abusive Sales Personnel

I responded to a mailed advertisement for extended warranty on my vehicle which is still under factory warranty. A woman who identified herself as Darlene began by asking for information beyond what other extended warranty insurance companies ask for. I explained several times that I only wanted to know what the policy covers and what it cost. She kept insisting I provide more and more personal information beyond what other insurance companies ask for when giving a quote.

When I stopped providing information she referred me to her fast talking finance manager with an offensive tone of voice, who gave me a nonsensical babbling lecture on why they needed the information and the companies that didn't ask for the information would be out of business in six months. He went on to say they needed to get the information into their system so they would still be in business in the future if I should need to use the warranty. He told me that he didn't know the condition of my vehicle and if they gave out quotes without entering people into their system "every transmission shop in the country would have our number on speed dial and put us out of business". When he paused and asked if that made sense, I responded no. He hung up.

(?) No one asked any questions about the condition of my vehicle, which is still under factory warranty, so if I needed any repairs, which I don't, I would use the factory warranty. I don't know why they needed all the personal information, the explaination didn't make sense at all, so they sure made me wary of them.
