When I purchased a car from a local dealership I called Geico and set up my coverage for the new car over the phone. The representative on the phone told me that because the car was being financed I would have full coverage including rental car coverage if I wouold ever need it. I was never mailed a REAL policy - the only thing mailed to my home address was the insurace card and a generic policy they use for advertising purposes. My inusurance card states that I have Personal injury protection benefits, property damage liability and "rental car coverage is provided".

Last week I had an accident that caused my car to be towed and in the repair shop for 2-3 weeks. Only at this time do I find out that indeed Geico will not honor the rental car coverage and I was told by a representative there that I should "take a bus or a cab to and from work for the next 2-3 weeks".

First of all I could not believe her out and out rudeness, let alone the fact that I cannot afford 40$per day in taxi fares and there is not a bus line route available where I live and work. Secondly Mary Curran who I was told would be my agent working on the claim refuses to answer her phone - out of the 7 times I called her she answered the phone once and told me that she would take my rental car problem to her legal council, which she to date has not done.

On friday I left her five messages and she did not return one of my calls. WHAT GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! It seems that Geico likes to play games with their customers and trick them with verbage that one would think to be straight forward policy issue regular features but indeed mean something totally different to them when they are held accountable.

This is the worst experience I have EVER had with an insurance company and I will tell everyone I know to NEVER use Geico - they love to take your money and then leave you holding the bag.
