Ripped off my money and I never got my scooter!

Cars & Transport

On August 6, I placed an online order for a new Sinclair LX scooter from GS Motorworks based in Frisco, TX. The website states that shipping is free and that the scooters are shipped in a crate. Furthermore, I received an email that week with instructions from GS Motorworks about receiving my scooter.

The first instruction was that if the crate was in any way damaged, to not accept the shipment and to contact the company immediately and they would send an insurance representative out to the shipping company to file a claim.

When I went to pick up my scooter on Thursday, August 10, I found that it had not been shipped in a crate at all, but in a cardboard box, and the box had completely come apart, been taped back together, had a huge hole in the side about a foot in diameter, and was completely smashed, so naturally, I refused to accept it.

The next morning when I called GS Motorworks, I was expecting them to apologize and to immediately ship out another scooter without incident.instead, I was told by customer service rep Kim that the scooter was undamaged and that a different scooter would not be shipped out to me. I asked how the sales rep could possibly know that the scooter was undamaged, and she said that employees from the shipping company had taken it out of the box and taken pictures of it. I told her that just because it didn't appear to be damaged aesthetically didn't mean that the scooter had not been damaged in the shipping process and that accepting a scooter in the condition I saw it in was unacceptable to me.

She then transferred me to Candi Turner, one of the owners of the company, who told me that no exchange or refund would be granted to me. I then told her that I had been doing research online on GS Motorworks, and found many people who had a very bad experience with the quality and/or shipping of their products.

When I mentioned that many people claimed that their brand new scooters didn't work right out of the box or broke down after 30 miles, she told me that those people "hadn't read the instruction manual." I told her that I wanted a full refund and she said there was no way that would happen, that I would still have to pay for the shipping and a restocking fee ($380!!!), and when I said that I wasn't going to pay for anything, she said that she "would take care of it" and hung up on me before I could ask what she meant by that.

To this day, i don't have a scooter and they haven't refunded a penny of my money! Beware of gs motorworks! They are a scam operation and they will rip you off! They don't return phone calls, are rude and maddening to deal with, and most of all, are totally fraudulent!!!
