Ripoff harrassing non-customer disclosing private info

I have apparently been listed as a personal reference for one of Lobel's customers in Anaheim, CA. I live in Houston, TX.

Over the past several months, I have received multiple calls from Lobel attempting to contact the account holders. My mother (also in Houston) has also received mulitple calls. Once, earlier this spring, their representatives even attempted to make me pay on the account and gave me sensitive information such as the payment amounts, past-due status, and account number. I have no right to that information and to pass it along to me is highly irresponsible and unprofessional.

Each time I have been contacted I have informed their repreentatives that these people live in California and I do not have contact with them. Yes, I was asked to be a personal reference when this car was purchased... I expected a phone call to ask how long I had know the borrower and whether or not he had good character... That is what is defined as a "personal reference" where I come from. I accept no responsibility for the payment of this loan and I do not wish to be contacted in reference to it.

This morning I received one of the most disrespectful and abusive calls yet from one of their representatives. She identified herself as "Melinda" and her supervisor informed me that she had entered her initials into the computer as "MMT". Melinda called my personal number while I was at work and refused to identify herself or the number she was calling from. When I determined that she was in fact a representative of Lobel, I informed her that this was not my account and that I did not wish to be contacted because I do not have contact with the account holder. Melinda was extremely rude and discourteous to me. She laughed when I told her not to call me. I told her that she was being deceitful and that I felt that the call was harrassment. I asserted that I would no longer discuss this account with her and that I would call a supervisor. I reminded her not to call me anymore and she laughed and responded "Oh I will be calling you again" as I hung up the phone.

These people are INSANE. I don't understand what result they could possibly get out of harrassing me in TEXAS!!! I've never even seen the car they are talking about. I emailed their corporate offices, but I am pretty much expecting that to be a joke. Now I am even scared that they have messed with my financial info or run a credit check on me (based on the stories I've read here). Someone has got to do something about this company.

I will be pursuing this. They have pissed off the wrong little Texas school teacher.
