Ripoff unnecessary service scam

My wife took our 2005 Chrysler Pacifica to receive factory recommended maintenance at 30,000 miles to Harry Lane Chrysler Kia dealership in Knoxville, Tennessee. She asked, both when scheduling the service and at the service department that the vehicle has been brought in for the factory recommended maintenance.

When the vehicle was being serviced, the service technician came to the waiting room and told her that the car needs automatic transmission fluid changed and a "fuel system flush". She says she was told by the service technician that these are part of the 30,000 mile service. The truth is that Chrysler Pacifica factory recommended maintenance at 30,000 miles includes nothing but oil change, tire rotation and checking of fluids.

What should've been a $50 service visit turned out to be a whopping $350 service.in my opinion, Harry Lane Chrysler Kia took advantage of the fact that my wife wasn't familiar with the factory recommended maintenance and the service technician scammed her into accepting service that was unneeded.

I've made several good faith efforts to resolve this with Harry Lane. When I called the service manager, Travis Durden, he admitted that neither transmission service nor fuel system flush are in Chrysler recommended maintenance schedule at 30,000 miles, but it's "something they just do". His rebuttal was that my wife was informed of the services and that she agreed to them. Per Mr. Durden, Harry Lane Chrysler Kia has done nothing wrong or unethical.

According to the receptionist, Harry Lane Chrysler Kia does not have a General Manager. A voice mail message left to the Operations Manager, Nick Hall, was never returned.
