Been with Nationwide for 30 years. Had one claim in 1978. Recently had an accident which I was not at fault, the other driver was cited. Nationwide said they'd fix my 2005 Mustang and seek reimbursement from the other insurance co. The adjuster went to the dealer and inspected my vehicle. He decides that he is not going to replace the hood with a new Ford hood, he wants to use a "surplus" hood that will come from a vendor and "refurbish" my bumper instead of replace it. The damage estimate is around $4000 for the left side front and front bumper, grill and hood.

When it was towed from the scene one wheel was going straight and the other going sideways. I asked about an alignment and was told "how do you know it needs and alignment? Did you drive it?" My car has 8K miles on - still a new car. I explained that I wanted new Ford parts on my car. I was informed I dont have that type of insurance!

If I wanted new parts I should have had OEM coverage. I was never offered OEM coverage when I called in my vehicle change. I would not have refused it (turns out it's $26 per year). My agent has no record of discussing it with me. I am going to pursue this and try to make them do the right thing but I am very disappointed that after 30 years they would try to rip me off like that. Anyone who reads this should contact their company to make sure they are not being set up the way I was.
