What started out bad ended up good Ripoff

On Halloween 2005 i purchased a new chevy from Vista Chevrolet. The salesman told me that I was going to get two gas cards for $500 each just for buying a truck. I was stoked because I got a great deal on the truck and now I was going to get $1000 worth of free gas.

Well a couple of months went by and I still hadnt gotten my gas cards. The dealer kept telling me that they would be coming from GM and that I would get them in the mail soon. At this point I was pretty pissed.

I called the dealer again and they gave me the 800 number for the GM promotions people so that I could check it out myself. I called and they informed me that indeed they were the ones handling the gas cards and that the dealers had no control over it.

Then they told me that I wouldnt be getting any gas cards because the dealer failed to submit the nessesary paperwork with my information. So again Im pissed.

I called back and talked to the wonderful and super helpful cusomer service manager. She said she would do some investigating and get back with me. She called me back about a half hour later and said that she had everything in front of her.

She told me that they did submit a request for my cards and that she made me copies of everything for my records. Then she told me that she also talk to the GM promo people and that the refused to resubmit my stuff even though it was thier error. So Im just supposed to do without my $1000 worth of gas?

She said "dont be silly", "were still going to get you what your entitled to." She kept explaining and said that I would not be able to get the gas cards but that the dealer would give me a check for $1000 if that was OK. Of course it was.

So Vista Chevrolet wound up coming out of pocket a grand to give me what this other company screwed up on. I know this site is normally for trashing businesses. But I wanted to make sure that both sides were shown here. I had felt as though I was getting screwed but because I had faith it all worked out in the end. A lessen could be learned from all here. Dont assume anything and it only takes one caring person to make a difference.
I would definetly recomend Vista to anyone in the market for a new car. I will surely be going back to them from now on. Thanks Vista.
