I purchased a used transmission from Mid City Auto Salvage & Parts using PayPal. I called back two days after making the order and paying and they said that they just received the fax from PayPal showing them the money. I contacted PayPal and they said they are sent an email as soon as I make the order and they should ship parts that day or as soon as possible.

I asked Mid City when they expect my transmission to arrive and they told me probably 10 days when on the orginal phone call they said it would be 3-5 days when he gave me the e-mail address to use to pay using paypal. Shawn said that it takes at least 5 days by Semi to arrive. I told him to ship it and he said he hadn't pulled the part yet out of the other car but he would and ship it to the dealership.

My transmission arrived at the dealership and was signed for because they couldn't see the damage through the wrapping. When they unwrapped it the dealership called me and said that it had a whole in it, had water in it and one part was too loose to work.

I called Shawn and he said he would keep the 6 month warranty if I wanted to have my case on my broken transmission pulled and put on his transmission. That would have been okay if it didn't also have water in it and another part too loose for the tech to use. Shawn said the part that was loose was supposed to be loose but the tech said it was not. The tech also said that it looked like they had power washed it without covering any of the holes so water would be in transmission.

I went to a master certified ASE tech (other than at the dealership) for a second opinion. He said he would be MORE concerned about the water than the hole but the dealership would charge me to swap cases.

When I spoke to Shawn again about this he said that it was not his fault that the shipping company knocked a hole in it and damaged it and to make the claim through them that he wasn't liable.

I did submit a claim through Watkins. I spoke to a young lady there and she told me that she wasn't surprised that the transmission arrived damaged because Mid-City likes to play tricks. They told me it could take up to 60 days for them to come to a conclusion about if they were at fault for the damage or not and even if they accepted liablilty they would only pay 20 cents per pound.

After thinking about what Watkins said about Mid-City and that Shawn basically told me he wasn't responsible because it was shipping issues I went to Paypal and submitted a claim. Paypal said since it wasn't an auction on Ebay they couldn't help me.

I called Shawn the next day and told him what Watkins said about Mid City playing tricks and he got very upset and said he was going to have her job because he spends over $500,000 a year sending parts using them.

At this point Shawn shocked me and said he wouldn't make me wait that long for a transmission (shipping company claim) that he would send one out to me on Monday which this was Thursday evening at 5 PM his time. I was thinking okay maybe I am wrong in thinking that he isn't a good business. I told my husband and my husband left a message on Shawn's voice mail as to get instructions on what to do with the damaged transmission. We didn't receive a call back.

At this point I did do some looking on the internet and found this site and also checked their BB report and found it to be terrible. I took all this information in to account and purchased another transmission from a company that does business with the BBB and has an outstanding record.

I wanted to call Shawn to let him know that I didn't need the transmission and that I just wanted my money refunded. I spoke to Dale and Dale tried his best to help me saying what if I got the transmission out to you tomorrow and I told him that I had already bought another one and to let Shawn know I didn't need a replacement and needed my money to be refunded.

Shawn returned the call on my voice mail all upset. When I returned his call I was told I was a low-life scum and hung up on by one of the employees. I can only assume that this is normal practice since Shawn said he couldn't do anything about the conduct of his employees. I asked Shawn for an apology and he gave me one over the phone and said he would send a refund to me if I submitted my request for refund through paypal. He indicated that he had 18 of those transmissions and he didn't need our transmission back.

I tried to go through Paypal for them to submit the refund request but again just like the claim, they said they couldn't help me.

My husband took off work yesterday to get this all taken care of. We faxed the paypal confirmation letter to Shawn at Mid City and we called to make sure he received it. One guy put us on hold and said the pages came through blank, but this was only after another person said that they did come through fine. We faxed it to him at 2 different fax numbers several times.

My husband and I were getting too many different stories so we decided to record them using our answering machine so that we could keep all the information straight. We called several times and would get put through to Shawn's voice mail but one time Shawn did pick up and basically say parts and my husband said Shawn and Shawn growled and sent us again to his voice mail.

We then called again and got put through to Al. We told Al our problem and he said to go through Paypal but we tried to tell him we tried this already but he wouldn't let us talk and just kept talking over us. After awhile of calling back trying to get in touch with Shawn the employees told us that he wasn't going to take our calls and they started hanging up on us.

We got through to Al again and he heard the beeping of our answering machine and asked us is we were taping him and my husband said yes we were and he said we were done, we weren't getting a refund and to never call there again or he was going to call the police because we were harrasing them.

We tried calling again and Shawn got on the phone and was scraming at the top of his lungs curse words and he didn't even know who he was speaking to because no one asked our names so I believe he treats all his customers this way since he didn't ask who he was speaking to.

I just want my $495.00 to be refunded. I have contacted the BBB, The Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc. Gov or 877-382-4357), The Division of Trade and Consumer Protection Agency (414-266-1231) and The Milwaukee Police.

I have done nothing wrong and would like my money refunded since I purchased something that should have arrived at my desired location in the condition I purchased it in.
