Ripoff - Paint defects that were found seven days after purchase on 2002 ca

On Monday, May 16, I purchased a 2002 car from Gordie Boucher of Madison at 6601 Odana Road, Madison, WI 53719. At the time of the purchase there were no visible paint defects on the car. On Monday, May 23, I washed the car at a local car wash using only a spray wand and no brush was used. After I washed the car, while I was drying the car with a cotton cloth, I notice about a 5 inch spot on the roof of the car where there looked like no paint. I then noticed on the hood and rear deck a number of paint defects.

I notified Brian, the used car manager of Gordie Boucher, after talking to the sale representative Terry Sharp, on Monday, May 23. At Brain's request I took the car to Zimbrick Body Shop in Madison to inspect the paint defects that are on the car on Tuesday, May 31. Zimbrick found paint defects on the hood panel, left and right front fenders, on the roof panel, left and right quarter panels, and rear lid deck.

Zimbrick stated in its written evaluation that all panels have similar markings, appears something in the past was on the surface, appears finesse sanding and buffing was done to the panels for appearance, and marks are still visible to make them go away the panels would need repaint. The cost for repairs is $1,097.20.

After receiving the written estimate from Zimbrick on Tuesday, May 31, I notified Brian and inform him of Zimbrick's evaluation. Brain inform me later that day that Gordie Boucher would not pay for the cost of those repairs. I feel these repair costs need to be covered by Gordie Boucher and that at the time of purchase that those paint defects were intentionally covered over with a dark wax so that those paint defects were not visible at the time of purchase on Monday, May 16.
