Ripoff Deceptive sales tactics

Cars & Transport

My wife took our vehicle to the car wash. While waiting in line she was approached by a salesperson from this company, offering to replace our windshield due to a chip. My wife told him she was not interested. The persistant salesman then told my wife he could get our insurance company to pay for it at no cost to us.

My wife explained we did not have windshield coverage on our insurance, but the salesman insisted they could get the insurance company to pay for it. He then told my wife that if the insurance company didn't pay, the company would absorb the cost of replacement.
My wife then told him that if he could guarantee we would not have to pay, they could replace the windshield.

The salesman said they would be in touch with her to set up an appointment. We did not here from the company and assumed the insurance would not pay. However one afternoon one of their trucks pull into my yard, and tells my teenage son that he'here to replace the windshield. Neither my wife or I were home at the time.

My son knew nothing of the work to be done, but saw nothing odd about having windshield replaced. Weve had it done before. After the workman was done he had my son sign his work order and left. We thaught maybe the insurance company had paid Until we received a deniel letter from them. I was not surprised by this since we knew we had no coverage.

Soon after I received a bill from this company for a discounted amount of 220.96. I called them the next day and explained the situation to them, and that I had never been contacted or authorized replacement. I was told by the girl answering the phone that I would have to talk to Christina, but that she was not available, but would have her call me as soon as possible.

I received another bill before I dis a phone call. I then wrote them a letter explaining the situation and again stating that I would not be responsable for these charges. I included my work phone, and my cell phone so they could contact me. Their response was to send me another bill. My wife then called and was able to speak to Christina. After explaining the situation she was told that they would get back to her.

Another bill, another phone call rom my wife to Christina. At this time we were offered to pay for half the charges, when we refused we were told that they would get back to us by 3-24-05 to resolve the problem. Well I just received another bill dated 3-27-05, and now their threathening to take collection action. I am fed up with these people trying to extort money from hard working people. I do not plan to pay this company, can I get some ideas where to go next?
