Damaging Repair Ripoff

I went to the QwikWash America on Wednesday, June 20 for a car wash and oil change. While I was waiting for my oil change a QwikWash employee approached me and offered to fix a small pin-hole sized chip in the windshield of my minivan. He told me that it would be free because he would file it through my insurance.

The chip had been in the windshield for over a year and had never been a problem, but I agreed to the repair because it would be free. On Monday, June 25th I went to drive my car and discovered a foot long crack radiating outward from the repaired chip. As the day went on the chip spread to over 2 feet long and covered the entire passenger side of the windshield.

I went back to QwikWash to discuss the problem. I was told that their policy was to apply the amount of money received for the initial chip repair to the cost of a new windshield. The amount from the insurance for the chip repair was $60, making my remaining cost for the new windshield a very expensive $200.

I then called to talk to the manager, Floyd. He told me that the repair had been done correctly and that the windshield must have been about to crack anyway. I found this very hard to believe since the chip had occurred over a year ago and had never spread and then 5 days after being repaired resulted in a cracked windshield.

Floyd then told me that he also had suffered because he was out the cost of the resin to repair the windshield and the insurance money. Give me a breakI have to buy a $200 windshield because your employees perform substandard work!

I have never heard of a business performing a repair, causing extensive further damage and then demanding that the customer pay to have it fixed! It is incomprehensible that QwikWash could stay in business when it clearly does not stand behind its work!

I will never have any work done at QwikWash or use any of its services.
