Dealership demanded extra down payments after car purchase

I am writing to alert others who are thinking of buying a car at Continental Autos in Ft Lauderdale (Sunrise) so they do not get ripped off. 20 days ago my husband and I bought a car from them. One of the sales reps, Mauricio, was very rude and even blocked me from his phone when I confronted him. He told me my car was a 2009. Out of those 20 days, for 10 days the truck has been back at the dealer twice because the engine went bad.

When we sat down to finalize the paperwork, they made us sign approx. 100 papers covering their behinds. First, Mauricio said that I only had to give $1500 down and we could pay off the car within a year. We then realized that in 20 days we had to pay $1500 more, and after that another $1500, making a total down payment of $4500, but Mauricio never told us that. Now that we have had the truck for only 10 days, they want us to pay the other $1500 and give us the truck back.

We do not want this car anymore. We asked them to change the car or give back the money, because in Florida the law is that we have 30 days to return any car, used, new or pre-owned, if we do not like it. The owner's answer was: well, if you do not take the truck back then you are screwed. What type of person talks to a customer that way? Obviously this woman does not have any education at all.

Now I know why they locked their front doors and I had to ring a bell to come in. It must be due to all the people he has ripped off who come to complain. If you buy a car or pickup from him he will rip you off either in the beginning or at the end. I just hired an attorney, and let us see how they talk and treat customers in front of a judge.
