All Tune And Lube
Pheonix Automotive ripoff Refuse to refund $1,000 deposit properly. Fraudulant charge to credit card for 527.30

Cars & Transport

After developing transmission problems, I called All Tune and Lube to get a price quote for repairing my transmission. After haggling over the price and services we agreed on $1,900 for complete transmission rebuild and a new serpintine belt installed.

I then gave a $1,000 deposit on my credit card to aseal the deal. At this time, I asked Chuck (according to BBB files the general manager, but refers to himself as the owner) if this would pose a problem if when I picked up the card to pay the entire bill in cash and get the $1,000 refunded to my credit card. He said this would be no problem.

During the course of repair, I was informed that I needed a new main seal and that he would do it for and additonal $100. I agreed knowing that now was the time to do this since the transmission was alrady out of the way.

Once repairs were "complete" I came in and paid the entire bill in full with cash. I was then issued a carbon refund receipt for $1,000 (not an electronic).

A few days later, I took my car for a state inspection and was informed that my car failed the inspection due to a worn serpintine belt. I took the car back to All Tune and Lube and they told me that they "forgot". Since I was presuring them to have the car ready by when they told me it would be ready. They did however install it quickly while I waited. I have to wonder if they "forgot" to replace my main seal.

Two weeks went by and the refund still did not appear. I waited until my next statement. When it arrived, not only was the refund NOT there, but there was a new charge for $527.40 from All Tune and Lube. I then called Chuck and told him I would be in the next day for a refund of $1,527.30.

When I arrived the next day he swiped my card and ran a carbon of the card for a refund of $1,527.00. On the electronic printout there was no dollar ammount and at the bottom it said "failed transaction". When I asked about it. Chuck told me that it always showed up that way.

I then went home and called my credit card company and told them what had happened. Of course there was no indication of a refund and by what was on my receipt there would never be one.

I then called Chuck and told him what I had found out and he still maintains that he is correct.

As of right now I have paid $3,500 for a $1,900 estimate.
