Storage unit theft claim denied for lack of old receipts

Sedgwick is the insurance company for my Public Storage unit. My storage unit got flooded through the fault of the storage company itself. There was almost two inches of water in the unit. After going through all the soaked items, I filed a claim with Sedgwick. After a bit, Sedgwick settled the claim.

During the process of moving out of the old storage unit to a new unit that the storage company provided, I discovered that a lot of my and my fiancee's valued items were stolen. The way they got into the storage unit was by cutting the wires on top to gain entrance and exit. I personally think the flood was a cover-up for the stolen property. I filed a claim with Sedgwick, but they are asking for documentation for the items that is less than a year from the time the items were reported stolen. That is what is in the policy and what their representative stated. A police report was filed. Through conversation with the storage management and the detective, this was not the first time theft was reported from this storage facility.

All items that were in storage were a couple of years old. So how am I to retrieve the receipts? I tried with the credit card company but they cannot help me with the receipts. Sedgwick also wants photos. Who takes photos of items they bought? Who keeps cash receipts that are a couple of years old? Every item on the inventory sheets is more than a year old. I lost a lot of valuable items that I couldn't claim, and I feel that Sedgwick is victimizing the victim. I pay my insurance and now is the time for the insurer to pay the insured. My loss is a whole lot more than what I am claiming for. Thank you.
