Charged $5 to drop a service - phone service only here

Business & Finance

It's a hard wired phone problem. I just tried to call and remove 1.5 fee for a un published number. Operator #2793 told me it's 5 dollars to change my service. 5 dollars to change my own account and drop a 1.50 service? Isn't this ostensibly forcing you to keep it? Double dipping? She offered me no help in appealing it, nor referring me to the federal regulatory agency overseeing telecom. How much money are they making by charging 5 dollars of every customer change? It's a crime? I've already filed a complaint with FCC oversight committee, FCC home page, local congressman, and am now shopping for another carrier!
