Sunday Due Date Forced Early Payment Fee or Finance Charges

My Bank of America credit card bill was due on a Sunday. On Friday afternoon, I went to pay the bill online, but the payment was rejected because they do not process online on Sundays, even though they can list Sunday as your due date. Because of this, my payment would not be processed until Monday, and I would be forced to pay finance charges. So I called their automated service to pay by phone, only to be informed that there was a $10.00 fee to do so, and $15.00 if I made the payment through a customer service representative.
I entered "0" to be transferred to a person, and after being on hold for nearly 5 minutes, I was cut off.
I called back and finally got a rude customer service representative who informed me that I understood the situation exactly. I would have to pay to make my payment two days early, or would have to pay for free online and get charged my finance charge.
She told me that they recommend all customers pay their bill 3 to 5 days early so that they can avoid fees. What is the point of listing a due date if you are going to be charged fees if you don't pay 3-5 days before that date??? It is dishonest and unprofessional, which doesn't surprise me from a company that deals with every one of their customers as "accounts" and not human beings.
