They purposely hold checks until past due date to collect late fees

Merrick Bank intentionally holds checks to collect late fees. For several months in a roll, I noticed they kept charging me for late fees. I started paying closer attention and was double sure to mail the payments in plenty of time before the due date. The last time I sent a payment, it took them 15 days to get my payment. I have been doing business with this company for many years, and previously it only took a few days for them to receive my payments. I believe they are purposely holding checks to collect late fees and additional interest fees.
