Ripoff fraudulent dishonest billing practices-Miss George was rude, accusatory, then hung up

I had been paying on a debt that NCOP purchased from Bank of America. I had given them post dated checks for 6 months at a time. When everything in my life hit the fan I did not pay for several months. I received a letter from NCO dated May 27. It was a *SETTLEMENT OFFER* They had been authorized to accept $1357.99 as a lump sum so long as payment is received within 30 days of the date of the letter.

It also stated that "If you have any further questions or need assistance, please contact us at 1-800-933-6736 X1316."

I borrowed the money to pay this debt off and sent the payment with the lower portion as per the instructions. I wrote SETTLEMENT next to my account number on the check, and it was cashed the following week (before 6/27).

Yesterday, July 13, I received a letter from NCO Financial Systems... Dated July 3.in the content of this letter it goes on to say that I "have not kept the payment arrangement made with that office. The date the payment WAS DUE" was 07/01/04. The total balance-$1399.85, the balance of the original balance plus another $41.86 interest.

I tried to call this morning. I was asked for the creditor by several people, I explained what it was again and again. The young man that I ended up with could not find the account and said that it was sent back to Bank of America in 2002. I explained to him again what exactly was on the letter, gave him the account number again. I was then transferred to Miss George. She did not say anything at first. So I gave her my name and account number, and explained the situation again. She then yells at me "Why didn't you call? You should have called the representative listed on the letter!" I told her there was no rep listed and that I didn't know that I had to call and quoted her the last sentence on the settlement offer. She continued to talk over me, and so I raised my voice. She said and I quote, "I am NOT going to let you yell at me at 9am my time, call me when you are ready to talk!" She then hung up.

I have not called back as I am still so furious after 12 hours, that I am still shaking. I don't know where to turn at this point. Please HELP!!!
