Ipoff Deceptive practices caused so much stress, my Mother is now dead!

In February of a representative from Ameriquest had gone to my Mothers home in Pasco County Florida and pressured her into refinancing her home through him. I would like to state his name, but I am afraid of being sued for slander. He stated that he was from the Clearwater branch, but I have not been able to reach him. Nor could my Mother when she tried to back out.

This man charged all kinds of ridiculous fees, pressured my Mother into signing the papers right away saying he was only in the area for 3 days and no one else could help her. They also coerced her into initialing a blank piece of paper in which they falsified her income and her age (my sister is a witness to this). My Mother was retired, a widow of 30 yrs, and living on social security and unfortunately, in debt and desperate. She should have never qualified for this loan in the first place and would not have had they not falsified her information.

My Mother was too embarrassed to let her children know, other then my sister who lived with her at the time. Unfortunately for us, 3 months to the day that vulture did this to her, she passed away from a stress related heart attack. Now, this was a woman given a clean bill of health, had no history of heart disease, and visited her doctor monthly. She mentioned to my sister a couple of weeks prior to her death, that she made the biggest mistake of her life refinancing with them. Needless to say, we are devistated!!!

In peeling back the layers and reviewing the documents I came across, it is apparent that the original price she agreed on had increased in a matter of 2 months to a fee that my Mother could not possibly pay. She lived on a fixed income and it is apparent she was set up to lose her home and she knew it!

I need advice as to what to do here. They will not give me any information, nor will they release the original paperwork. I am afraid they will try to foreclose and I refuse to let them have this house. I have not received any bills or correspondence from Ameriquest and they are aware of the situation. This company obviously took advantage of an elderly woman in need of money and they took her to the cleaners. Now my Mother is gone, and I cannot let this continue to happen to anyone else. Why is this company still able to write loans when they are blatant predators? Aren't there laws in Florida to prevent this from happening?
