This accounting firm estimated that our tax preparation cost might be $4500 to $6500. Next thing we know it's over $9000. When they told us we asked for some clarification to try to understand why the bill came in so much higher than the estimate. While we're trying to sort this out they went ahead and charged our credit card for the full amount.
There are more details to the story but our experience was not great overall becasue we feel we were mislead and given no prior warning about the additional cost. What adds to our confusion is the fact that when we were providing them with information to prepare our return they actually indicated that it "would be less work" than they anticipated.
