Rs 6800 Cheque Never Debited, Then Interest Charged

Dear Sir,
I have a Citibank credit card for which I made a purchase of Rs 6817.13. I dropped a cheque for Rs. 6800 in the month of November, but the amount was not debited. Again I got a statement with interest of Rs. 7428, for which I have paid a cheque of Rs 7000. Please find out what the problem is in my repayment, for which I am ready to pay interest unnecessarily.
