$489 in Overdraft Fees After Being Told Protection Was Required

US Bank located in Missouri is the biggest rip off! First when I opened the checking account they made the Overdraft Protection not an option they said this is what it is and sign it so, believing this was a normal procedure (not an option) I did, and that was the big mistake. They deceived me into believing this was not an option and stated it was part of the process.

Currently, I have $480 in "Overdraft Protection, " fees (HA! Protection from what) and am being charged $8 per day till the full amount is paid in full. This is a rip off and I know there is something that should be done... Please advise.
