Took 3 years worth of payments, repoed, then 10 years later went after the entire loan

Lets set the scene... Almost 10 years ago I bought a truck from a company that has gone bankrupt because of shady biz dealings and financed thru CAC. Made every payment for almost two years on time, lost my job, still made payments, got behind they repoed once, cost me $1000 to get it back after falling behind two months. Continued to pay, using Western Union to make sure they got their money. Well one month they never "got their money" even though I had all the reciepts, repo man shows up at work, wants another $1000 dollars even though I only owed $1000 to pay it off, just to get the truck back. Let them have it and moved on. Well at I thought. Until now. I just got a notice from my employer that my wages are being garnished for the ENTIRE loan amount for a truck I havent seen in at least 7 years. I never recieved any paperwork concerning court proceedings that I have since found out occured this summer. I got nothing. No notice of anything, just this notice that that my next check and every check for the next who knows how long is getting nailed. If I owe them something, ok I can deal with that but after all these years, after they took it and I am sure sold it, why was I sued for the entire amount??? And why wasnt I notified.??? I am going to try and get a copy of my file from them (which I doubt will happen) so I can see what the deal is. I really need some help with this... Wow...
