Something must be done! Ruins your credit - Dared to Close account after pay-off -great scam!

In December I called to get the Pay-Off amount due on my Credit Card account; I was told the amount, paid it immediately online, then called to Cancel the card "per customer request" (after 0 balance was reached).

I received a statement the following month showing my payment made a new $4.00 monthly
fee. After calling to complain and explain that I had closed this account - was told the fee would be removed and recieved an apology.

Next month the same: received another $4.00 fee $29.00 "late charge" interest! I called again & was told it would be credited back, etc... The next month - all repeated! This has continued now for 7 months as have the constant collection calls despite my efforts to get this resolved.

EACH time I call I am promised this has been 'taken care of'.

Friday, June 6 I received a Collection Notice from a third party. The amount due is now $78.. I again called Capital One to complain - after several failed attempts to get thru finally transfered to an "account Specialist" who informed me that I had to write a letter of cancellation (not according to their website and printed account info) and dispute the collection in writing to several departments.

When I explained my plight w / them she said don't worry - "your account is now closed." When I asked the details of closure she admitted it was due to "non-payment" and closed by them. She said I did not pay off the right amount and there always was a balance due. She didn't care that I had requested it closed "per customer request"

I requested her to look up how many times I had called about this matter & was tired of being LIED to about it being corrected! She said I still needed to write the letters and someone would respond.

Yeah, right!
Anyone looking to go after class action suit or other way? I see on this sight I'm in good company complaining of their practices.
I am ready for a fight!
