On June 4th, I was contacted on my cellphone by Quicken Loans agent (Odas Moses) offering home mortgage refinance at 4.25% interest rate for ten years. My requirement was that the closing cost not be more than $4200. He agreed and required me to deposit $400. For good faith to do business with his company refundable at closing. Was I sucked in! When I received the documents thru e-mail, I signed and faxed back all documents. I later closely looked at the Good Faith Estimate and saw that they had changed the rate to 4.75% and cost at $4800. I e-mailed them to cancel the transaction and do not charge my credit card because the document is not we agreed upon.
Four days later, the $400. Charge showed up on my credit card account. I contacted them and talked to a supervisor (?) and explained the situation. He agreed with me and said he will contact his accounting dept. The next day, a quality control supervisor called me asking I reconsider. I refused. He then said that the loan is therefore disapproved. I got an e-mail an hour later stating that the $400. Was for the documents sent to me and gave me a website which I can access them. I called my credit card company and reported the fraud which it closed the account and opened a new one in case the scammers decide to charge my account some more. They will attempt to get my money back after I disputed the charge and filed a fraud complaint.
