Ripoff Never opened acct returned cut up cards, acct still open

Requested Mastercard account with Sears. Received cards. Saw that limit was only $500, and available cash was only $150, and high interest rate.
Decided I didn't want this card. Cut up cards, returned to them within a week, told them to CLOSE ACCOUNT. One year later, after several letters telling them to close it, that it was never open since we never activated it, but account still shows as OPEN. What a bunch of idiots!
