Bank of America recently closed my account 1 day before my direct deposit was to hit my account. I found out my account had been closed because I tried to access it from the internet. I was told to call the risk management department and they could help me. Well, when questioned them to see why my account had been closed, it was due to a personal check I had cashed from someone else. The check was returned and I had another one being processed under the same person as well. Well the person who wrote me the check had their bank to call BOA, because they had returned the first check by error (they are a small local credit union and it was accidentally returned). BOA, lied to the credit union and told them they send me (the BOA account holder) the amount that they paid, which ended up being both checks (since it was sent back in error). Well BOA said they were closing my account and they would mail me my payroll check once the official close date took place which is 21 days later. Well to make a long story short, BOA started the process on 5/4 and said they will process my payroll return in the form of a cashier's check on 5/21 and I should have it within 7 to 14 days. So I will virtually be getting paid a month after my payroll went to BOA. I recently found out there are hundreds of people that BOA is doing this to. Is this legal? How can they keep your money and put you in an economic hardship when you owe them nothing!!! They are hoarding consumer money and causing a centralized hardship epidemic, created by them. Oh I failed to mention, the supervisor of Risk Management said this was their number one complaint, everyone wanting their money back. No one in Risk Management will talk to me any further. They said they have done everything they will do and now they read the notes and hang up on me. Once again, help!
