Changed due date to Wamu card I had for 5 years. Refused to reverse my first and only late payment

I have had my Providian/Wamu card for nearly 5 years. My due date has never been before the last day of the month. I got in the habit of getting online at the end of the month to make my payment every month.

Last month it was a day earlier than it had ever been, on the second to last day of the month. I found that strange, but remembered that Chase had just bought the card out. So I got online on the 29th this month and found that my due date was even an additional day earlier being on the 3rd to last day of the month, the 28th.

So I call Chase and get a lady on the phone that seemed nice enough. I am completely willing to pay my due when a payment is late or I over charge my account. But I explained to her that in 5 years of having a card, my due date had never been this early. She read her script like a saint and refused to budge so I asked for a supervisor. A guy that seemed nice enough came on the phone and explained to me that it was impossible for him to overturn a late fee that was "legitimate" and that he could not correct it as a bank error because they made no error. I asked him if they could not do it as a courtesy and he said the only courtesy they could offer would be setting up automatic payments for me, like I'm some sort of moron.

I was very frustrated at this point and simply asked him to cancel my account. He didn't even blink. He said, "ok, account is cancelled. Did you have any other questions, Mr. Steele." I just laughed and hung up. What a wonderful way to value and appreciate your customers.

They are a bunch of money grabbing jerks. I have had nothing but problems with these people. Stay away!
