If you don't answer the sweepstakes notification you are charged

So i am checking my credit card statements since I am doing my taxes. I see two charges three days apart for AEPC member services for the tune of 79.95 and 99.00. WHAT??? I call amex and say hey i have been online and typed inthis company and it says you guys are related with this practice. He immediately got defensive. I said I am calling to dispute this charge, he said you will have to call the followin g number. I asked why that was since all disputed you handle. He was quiet. I asked if they were affiliated in any way - travel and leisure - he said the publishing company is, yes. I politely took the number and called the AEPC. I told her i did not sign up for anything. She asked if I had ever entered a sweepstakes (which i see these things come in the mail frequently). I said of course not, which really, i won two businesses - I can barely get to my mail and which is why I am looking at statements from october of last year. If you go online this guy wrote about that he was charged too. He did a little more research and found out that if YOU DONT answer - they automatically charge you. So, look for these charges... This is criminal. Really
