Bank Of America
Bank of America placed hold on POA account without notification after primary holders death leading to NSF charges

Business & Finance

I am POA POD for my Mother on a Bank of America in Arizona account. When my mother and I set up this account, we were not told that a hold will be placed on the account after my mother's passing and that
all subsequent checks written would bounce, generating fees from providers the checks were written to.
After my mother's passing, the bank did not notify me in writing or by email that they had placed a
hold arbitrarily on the account though my name appears on the account as POA and I was told I could continue
to settle my mother's affairs after her death by the Bank of America representative that opened the account
for us in Jan. There were two checks outstanding when the bank put the arbitrary hol on the account.
I did not know any thing was wrong until I started to receive Insufficient Funds notices from B of A.
This is a lie. There was more than enough funds to cover the checks in the account, it is just they put a hold on the account without notifiying me or informing me at account creation that they had this supposed right.in fact, they used bait and switch tactics by telling me
I could conduct my mother's affairs after her death to get me to open the account, then quoted some other policy that gives them the right to place a hold on the account after her death, and lying about my character by stating return due to Insufficient funds. What can I do to get them to reimburse me for the returned check fees I am saddled with due to their tactics.
