Collection notice

Business & Finance

I received a collection notice letter in the mail stating I owed $156 to MKM Acquisitions. This was due on an account that was closed over 10 years ago. The account that was closed had a zero balance on it.

After calling the credit card card company and checking all my credit reports, no accounts showed delinquent. I called up MKM and they informed this account was acquired in 1999 and it has taken this long to get in touch with me.

They said they would put a note down on the account that it had zero balance when it was closed. You would think they would know that when they acquired it.

I think that I had an overseas address attached to it (I was in the military at the time) so that they could use that excuse it took 10 years to track me down and get some money from me. Please be aware.

I am sure this is not over. If anyone else has been involved with this company please respond to this post and let me know. Thanks.
